8 most important on page SEO factors – part 2

Continuing our series on ‘on-page seo’ and how it can help you, our man Kris C happily shares a few seo pointers with you.   This is an occasional  series to compliment our website work here at RKO.krisC-01

5. – Use the ‘no-follow’ attribute

Use the rel=”nofollow” tag in links to websites you do not trust.  It’s good practice to use ‘no-follow’ in comments and when you don’t want to pass any link power.

6. – Write valid code

Make sure that your code is valid, in some cases using invalid code you risk problems with proper page indexation .  Use the W3C validator to check your markup.

7. – Internal links structure

It’s good to create some deep links within your pages.  Deep linking is when you link to any page within the site that is not the main page.  Another important thing are anchors of these links,  they should be your keywords.  Put those links into context and you have strong internal links.

8. – Friendly url’s

Having keywords in your URL’s makes little difference to how well you rank in Google’s results.  This should be done also to encourage people to click.  Google ‘bolds’ keywords searched for in URLs in its results.
